The word, “hero” gets thrown around too loosely these days. Why is John McCain considered a war hero? He was in a war. He was captured and was a POW. Will someone, please explain to me why that makes him a hero? I was in a war. Does that make me a hero? I’d have to say, no, it does not. Audie Murphy was a hero. Alvin York was a hero. There are many others. They went far above and beyond the call of duty to perform heroic actions in wars.

I’ve never considered John McCain a hero and I still don’t. John McCain is not a hero anymore more than any of us who’ve honorably served in combat zones.

Doing your duty is a very honorable thing. Being a hero is quite another. John McCain is no hero.
